Consent is specific
Agreeing to a massage is agreeing to exactly that — nothing more is implied. Each step should be within what you discussed beforehand, and anything new requires a fresh, unpressured yes.
Consent is revocable
You may pause, change your mind, or end the session at any point, for any reason or no reason. You do not owe an explanation, and a professional will never make you feel that you do. Your booking fee arrangements should have been clear in advance precisely so this stays simple.
Consent requires capacity
Sessions are for adults only — 21 and over in the practices we list. Arrive sober; a reputable therapist will reschedule rather than work with a guest whose capacity to consent is impaired.
The therapist's side of the frame
- Works only within the agreed scope — never improvises beyond it
- Checks in during the session rather than assuming
- Keeps everything about you confidential, permanently
- Makes no medical claims and offers no diagnoses
- Accepts a stop instantly and graciously
If any of these were missing from an experience you had, the failure was the provider's — not yours, and not your judgement in booking.
